Franz and Celia on Lake Arenal with the Arenal Volcano in the background
Welcome to "Come to Costa", a blog about life in Costa Rica. My partner Franz, as you may have read on this Marenal website, owns property here including a large finca or ranch, a private home, and Marenal... a near 70 acre Costa Rican property on Lake Arenal.
We "Come to Costa" as often as we can, staying a few months at a time. When we're not in Costa Rica, we live in Charleston, South Carolina.
Our home on Lake Arenal is in the mountains, so our temperature stays around 72 - 78 degrees F. The air is clean and comfortable. Air conditioning here is not a necessity, but helpful to control the humidity. Depending on the time of year, we do get a fair amount of rain.. we are in a rainforest afterall! The rain comes, but the sun returns shortly and shines again. The vegetation is lush and green, punctuated with the bright colors of the flowers, and the tropical birds flying by.
The glass walls at the front of our house provide an amazing view of Lake Arenal and the mountains of the other side. They also give us a ring side seat when some of our local birds come by for a visit.
We have met wonderful people here, and seen some amazing sites. The restaurants range from the "Soda" (this is what they call the local informal eateries) at the Nuevo Arenal bus station, to white tablecloth establishments. Learning about and tasting all the tropical fruit is an adventure all its own.
We hope you'll return here often as we describe life in this beautiful country of Costa Rica. We look forward to sharing our adventures with you!
