Aerial photo of Marenal lots, outlying neighbourhood, Lake Arenal on the horizons, Guanacaste, Costa Rica

As beautiful as Costa Rica’s beaches are, their popularity among tourists and locals can mean crowded places and towns. In contrast, the jungle offers a sense of peace and privacy. Here, the pace of life slows, the sounds of civilization fade away, and the only rush hour is the flurry of wildlife in the tree canopy.

If you cherish solitude and serenity, the jungle provides a sanctuary where the restorative powers of nature take center stage. The forests offer a connection to nature that beachside living simply can't match, wrapping you in a world where every day is an exploration of life at its most vivid.

Our property spans 25 hectares (approximately 55 acres) and is accessible via Road 143, which connects Nuevo Arenal to San Rafael de Guatuso in the Province of Alajuela.

Our land slopes gently southwesterly toward Lake Arenal, providing panoramic views of the lake and the Arenal and Tenorio volcanoes. A central valley divides the property into roadside and interior sections. The commercial properties all front Road 143, while the majority of residential and communal areas are situated in the interior, maximizing privacy and security. Our interior lots are served by pervious stone roads and by chemical-free water from our own deep well. All lots have beautiful views of Lake Arenal, and the Tenorio and Arenal volcanoes. Our land is about 100 meters above the Arenal Lake and extends another 90 meters higher to the north.

Nuevo Arenal is only five kilometres away and offers all essential services, including banking, grocery and supply stores, fuel stations, educational facilities, recreational areas, and places of worship. The town also features a range of restaurants, inns, and B&Bs. It is home to a vibrant expat community, making it an ideal destination for those seeking safe, sustainable communities in Costa Rica.

Marenal provides economic opportunities for sovereign individuals within the community or online.

Residents and their visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities and attractions, including:

  • Outdoor adventure: hiking, mountain biking, and canopy tours in the surrounding forests.

  • Water-based activities: kayaking, fishing, and sailing on Lake Arenal. Many thermal bathing facilities are within a one-hour drive.
